Deepika Padukone is an Indian actress and one of the highest paid in Hollywood globally. In her career she has bagged several awards among them three Filmfare Awards. Born on 5 January 1986 in Denmark, Padukone attended Sophia High School after her parents relocated to Bangalore. She attended Mount Carmel College for her pre-university education and later joined Indira Gandhi National Open University where she did a Bachelor of Arts and specialized in sociology. She however quit before completing her degree course to pursue a career in modeling.

Padukone debuted the film industry in 2006 after featuring in a Kannada film named Aishwarya. The film turned out to be a big success for Padukone. In 2017 she featured in reincarnation melodrama after earlier plans for Happy New Year were put on hold. The film narrates the life of struggling actor who later dies after seeing a woman he loved killed and he is reincarnated to avenge her death. Early this year, Padukone made a comeback with the “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”.

Recently, Padukone made headlines after a foreign U.S-based media mistakenly but severally referred to her as Priyanka Chopra, another top Indian actress. In her reaction, she termed the incidence as ignorance and racism for people to assume that people with the same color are similar. A video showing a paparazzo consciously referring to Padukone as Priyanka as she made her way from an airport was widely shared on social media. Padukone has for a number of times been a victim of this identity crisis and accuses the Indian media for failing to draw the lines.

After attending the Met Gala 2017 that went down in New York, Padukone will be heading to Riviera France to attend the Cannes FilmFestival that will take place between the May 17 and 18. She will be attending as the brand ambassador for L’OrĂ©al Paris, a cosmetic producing company.
