Pooja Hegde is a renowned actress of Telugu films from India. She has also participated in beauty pageants and was the second runner-up at the Miss Universe India pageant in 2010. Soon after, she made her film acting debut in the Tamil film titled Mugamoodi in 2012, after which she appeared in two more Telugu films which include Oka Laila Kosam and Mukunda in 2014. She got her big break as Hrithik Roshan’s love interest, Chaani in the period film, Mohenjo Daro in 2016, even though it failed to make any real impact in Bollywood.
Nevertheless, her Telugu debut Mugadoomi, despite receiving mixed reviews about her performance, did enable her to receive a nomination for the category of best female Tamil debut at the Second South Indian International Movie Awards.
But her exposure to Bollywood heroes doesn’t start or end with Hrithik; she has even appeared in a Hero Maestro advertisement with the handsome Ranbir Kapoor. And even though she does not play any sport, Pooja is a diehard Roger Federer fan; she never misses a game even on set and regularly tweets about his wins!
Pooja is from Mumbai, Maharashtra where she was born and has lived all her life, but her family hails from Mangalore, Karnataka. She is fluent in five languages –Tulu, Kannada, Marathi, Hindi and English. She always loved dancing and modelling since her college days. This is evident in the various beauty pageants she participated in: in 2009 she grabbed the Miss India Talented award and has also won the Miss India South Glamorous Hair 2010.
After a nearly disastrous Hindi film debut, Pooja has returned to the Telugu world for the third time; Duvvada Jagannadham or DJ is an upcoming Telugu romantic comedy written and directed by Harish Shankar which is slated for release on August 11 this year. Thanks.
